Requirements 3 and 8

Requirement 3

Watch the national evening news for 5 days in a row or read the front page of a major daily news paper five days in a row.  Be able to discuss the national issues that you learned about and be able to explain how these issues may affect you and your family.

Requirement 8

• Name your two senators and the member of Congress from your congressional district.   Be able to list all 3 of them.

On the Choose a State pull down box, choose either Connecticut or Massachusetts.  A small list of your 2 Senators will appear.

Select your state from the map of the United States.  A listing of all the congressmen from the state selected will appear.  Selecting one of them will bring you to their web page.

• Write a letter about a national issue that you learned about while working on Requirement 3 and address it to one of these elected officials.  Bring it to the assigned merit badge session and do not mail it to the official.
