Junior Leader Job Description

Introduction:   The Troop Guide role is to work actively with new scouts.  The Troop Guide introduces new scouts to troop operations and helps them feel comfortable in the troop.

This is a more senior scout that is skilled in all rank requirements. He must have served as a Patrol Leader and must already have proven leadership abilities. This position is selected by the troop and approved by the Scoutmaster.

Responsible to:   Senior Patrol Leader, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters

Specific Duties:

• Help Scouts meet advancement requirements through First Class.

• Advise Patrol leader on his duties and his responsibilities at Patrol leaders' council meetings.

• Help train new Patrol Leaders.

• Guide new Scouts through early Troop experiences to help them become comfortable in the Troop and the outdoors.

• Insure that each new scout feels a part of the troop and has a rewarding and safe experience.

Personally:

• Set a good example.

• Wear the uniform correctly.

• Live by the Scout Oath and Law.
