"Be Prepared" for all meetings - Patrol Leaders Must Communicate!

 

2/3 PLC (Patrol Leaders Council) - 7:00 Wapping Church

 

What we're doing:

  • Discussing ideas for next month's activities.

 

What to bring:

  • At least 4 of your best ideas for future meeting and scout challenges.
     

What to wear:

  • Class B Uniforms (bright orange colored shirts)

 

 

2/3 BOR (Board of Review) - 7:30 Wapping Church

 

What you should know:

  • The skills that were required for your current rank.

  • The skills that are required and your readiness for your next rank.

  • It is also a time for you to ask any questions you might have and to give feedback to the troop committee about activities and your Scouting experience in your troop and in your patrol.

 

What to bring:

  • All scouts who are meeting to attain their next scout rank, must  bring their Scout Handbooks with them.

 

What to wear:

  • Full Class A uniform (no jeans or baseball caps.  You don't have to purchase official scout pants, green matching pants are acceptable).

 

 

2/9 Troop Committee Meeting - 7:00 Wapping Church 3rd Floor

 

What we're doing:

  • Once a month our Troop Committee meets to discuss meets to discuss

    • Troop Finances

    • Scout Advancement, including the progression of our future Eagle Scouts.

    • Scoutmaster report of PLC activities.

    • Future trips and activities for our troop.

    • What is happening with scouting with news from our parent BSA District.

  • Scout parents are always invited to this meeting to assist in guidance of the troop. 

Parents are also encouraged to join the adult leadership of the troop.  As our scouts move on, so do our parents.  Our troop is always looking for Merit Badge Counselors, Committee Members, and Assistant Scoutmasters.

 

 

2/10 Meeting - 7:30 Wapping Church

 

What we're doing:

  • Continuing with our Outdoor Training.

  • An EMS will be giving a talk on cold weather clothing.

  • Mr. Maneeley will be giving a presentation on trapping animals for survival.

  • A water purification demo.

  • A lake and pond discussion with instruction on how to perform an ice rescue.

 

What to bring:

  • Scouts who have not attained the rank of First Class should always bring their Scout Handbooks to each troop meeting.

What to wear:

  • Full Class A uniform (no jeans or baseball caps.  You don't have to purchase official scout pants, green matching pants are acceptable).

 

 

2/12 Munson Candy Bars Fund Raiser - 10:00 to 6:00 at Stop and Shop

 

What we're doing:

  • We are selling Munson Candy Bars at a local grocery store as a fund raiser.

  • Profits from this fund raiser will be used for troop equipment, supplies, scouting awards, etc.

  • Our troop needs all of our scouts to help!  

 

What to bring:

  • A positive attitude and your best sales techniques.
     

What to wear:

  • Full Class A uniform (no jeans or baseball caps.  You don't have to purchase official scout pants, green matching pants are acceptable).

  • If raining, wear a rain coat.

  • If cold, wear thermal underwear, gloves, parka and a hat.

  • If warm and sunny, we are requesting no shorts.  Your legs would look embarrassingly white.

 

 

2/17 Scout Recruiting Night - 7:30 Wapping Church

 

What we're doing:

  • Recruiting and Webelos II Scout and Parent Orientation Night.

  • We will heading to patrol corners for Winterfest meal planning and on-a-stick cooking.

  • Using lashings for a Chariot Race competition.

  • Ice rescue practice.

What to bring:

  • Scouts are being asked to invite a friend for an informal visit.

  • Scouts who have not attained the rank of First Class should always bring their Scout Handbooks to each troop meeting.

What to wear:

  • Full Class A uniform (no jeans or baseball caps.  You don't have to purchase official scout pants, green matching pants are acceptable).

 

 

2/24 Outdoor Meeting - 7:30 Nevers Park Pavilion

 

What we're doing:

  • Winter Survival Patrol Competition (leaders to judge).

    • Building a fire with two foot flames.  You will need to demonstrate optional ways to start fire in the snow.

    • Building a one person shelter.

    • Building a snare

    • On-a-stick cooking.

    • Ways to signal for HELP.

What to bring:

  • Scouts who have not attained the rank of First Class should always bring their Scout Handbooks to each troop meeting.

  • Bring materials to build a fire.

What to wear:

  • Full Class A uniform (no jeans or baseball caps.  You don't have to purchase official scout pants, green matching pants are acceptable).

 

 

2/25 - 2/27 Troop 880 Winterfest Trip at Camp Wanocksett (NH)

 

What we're doing:

  • We are going to get out there and have some fun.

  • Sliding, ice skating and ice fishing (providing there is ice).

  • Shelter building and other advancement requirements.

  • Electronic games, etc...

This trip is not to be missed.  Sign-up early or sleep outside!
