"Be Prepared" for all meetings - Patrol Leaders Must Communicate!

 

1/7 Meeting - 7:30 Wapping Church

 

What we're doing:

  • We will be having our final advancement night before the Pot Luck Dinner.  Scouts that are First Class and higher will be teaching scouting skills to the lower ranks.  We will also be testing skills to sign-off on requirements all the way to First Class.

  • Each patrol will review their skits for the Pot Luck Dinner on January 14th.  It is important that all patrols attend in full.

  • Dodge ball, if time permits.

 

What to bring:

  • Your Scout Handbook.

 

What to wear:

  • Full Class A uniform (no jeans or baseball caps.  You don't have to purchase official scout pants, green matching pants are acceptable).

 

 

1/7 BOR (Board of Review) - 7:30 Wapping Church

 

What you should know:

  • The skills that were required for your current rank.

  • The skills that are required and your readiness for your next rank.

  • It is also a time for you to ask any questions you might have and to give feedback to the troop committee about activities and your Scouting experience in your troop and in your patrol.

 

What to bring:

  • All scouts who are meeting to attain their next scout rank, must  bring their Scout Handbooks with them.

 

What to wear:

  • Full Class A uniform (no jeans or baseball caps.  You don't have to purchase official scout pants, green matching pants are acceptable).

 

 

1/14 Annual Family Pot Luck Dinner and Rank Advancement - 7:00 Wapping Church

 

What we're doing:

  • All families are invited to a Pot Luck Dinner.

  • We'll then present Rank Advancement Awards (Note: Merit Badge Awards will be presented in June).

  • Patrol will put on their skits.

  • Last we will show a highlight movie of our fall outings.

 

What to bring:

  • Last Names A through E - Please Provide Beverages.

  • Last Names F through M - Please Provide Pot Luck Dish to Serve 6.

  • Last Names N through Z - Please Provide Dessert to Serve 6.

What to wear:

  • Full Class A uniform (no jeans or baseball caps.  You don't have to purchase official scout pants, green matching pants are acceptable).

1/21 Scout Recruiting Night - 7:30 Wapping Church

 

What we're doing:

  • We will doing training in many areas of scouting.

    • First Aid (basic wounds, cuts, lower ankle breaks) instructions for prospective scouts.

    • Camping

    • Cooking

    • Pioneering with lashing a structure

What to bring:

  • Scouts are being asked to invite a friend for an informal visit.

  • Scouts who have not attained the rank of First Class should always bring their Scout Handbooks to each troop meeting.

What to wear:

  • Full Class A uniform (no jeans or baseball caps.  You don't have to purchase official scout pants, green matching pants are acceptable).

 

 

1/28 Outdoor Meeting - 7:30 Nevers Park

 

What we're doing:

  • Demonstration and testing of a Bowline Rescue.

  • Winter First Aid demonstration.

  • Ski situation review.

  • Making Snow Shelters.

  • One Pot Cooking test - Dinner or Breakfast.

  • Starting a fire in the snow and then boiling a cup of water from snow.

What to bring:

  • Each scout should bring their knife, compass, flashlight, whistle and some matches.

  • Scouts who have not attained the rank of First Class should always bring their Scout Handbooks to each troop meeting.

 

What to wear:

  •   Class B Uniforms (bright orange colored shirts)

 

 

1/29 - 1/31 Troop 880 Ski Trip at Ascutney Mountain Resort, Vermont

 

What we're doing:

We are going to get out there and ski.  This trip is great for all levels of skiers.

 

The skiing  package includes a 2-day lift ticket for skiing/snowboarding, 2 overnights at the Base Lodge, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, Saturday night pizza meal and use of indoor pool.  All of this fun for $136.00 per scout (includes 15% Vermont meals and lodging tax)!              

 

YIKES, that sounds like a deal!
