5/14 Outdoor Meeting - 7:30 Nevers Park

 

What we're doing:

We will take a small bike hike.  We will review Bike Path Safety as it applies to roads and the Cape Cod Bike Trail. We will review first aid and test you in basic and advanced first aid for the up-coming trips (Biking and Canoeing).

 

What to bring:

  • Bike and bike helmet (even if you are not going on the Bike Trip).

  • Personal first aid kit. All patrols should have at least one first aid kit. (If you do not have one, we'll give you a pass for this meeting but you will need a personal first aid kit for summer camp.)

  • Scouts who have not attained the rank of First Class should always bring their Scout Handbooks to meetings.
     

 

 

5/21 Meeting - 7:30 Wapping Church

 

What we're doing:

This is a special meeting. We will be posting flags in the Town Cemeteries. We'll meet at Wapping Church and walk over to the cemeteries.  The Senior Patrol and Patrol Leaders will be in charge.  We will also have time to do advancement preparation for summer camp, preparing for merit badge sign-up for summer camp and a review of summer camp policies and activities.

 

What to bring:

  • Scouts who have not attained the rank of First Class should always bring their Scout Handbooks to meetings.

 

What to wear:

 Full uniform (no jeans or baseball caps.  You don't have to purchase official scout pants, green matching pants are acceptable).

 

 

5/23 Community Service (9am - 12pm)   'A Scout Is Helpful'

 

What we're doing:

Wapping Church has been very supportive of our Boy Scout Troop. We will spend just the morning of 5/23 (Saturday) cleaning up the church grounds.  Scouts will lead this clean-up. We would like a good turnout to show our appreciation for the church. (Note: Community Service is a critical part of advancement.)

 

What to wear:

 Class B Uniforms (bright orange colored shirts)

 

What to bring:

  • Work clothes

  • Gloves

  • Rakes

  • Brooms

 

 

5/28 Outdoor Meeting - Nevers Park

 

What we're doing:

This is a skills meeting.  We will check off each Scout as they complete these tasks.  These are individual challenges---each Scout will be challenged to:

  • start their own fire (5 matches maximum)

  • tie as many knots as they know

  • orient a map and point to a given compass reading

  • tie a square lashing

  • create a bandage and splint

  • fold the American flag

After these challenges we will have some more difficult patrol competitions.

Obviously, prizes will be awarded.

What to wear:

 Class B Uniforms (bright orange colored shirts)
